About the Project

The graphic novel Chocolate Is My Grandma’s Name (Moja baka zove se kao čokolada) is a tender and layered exploration of memory, loss, and intimacy. Combining fragments of conversations, personal prose and poetry, and expressive black-and-white illustrations, Klasja Habjan traces her grandmother’s life - from a wartime childhood and adoption to her years as a journalist and mother, and finally, her life in a care home as dementia slowly takes hold. A quiet act of presence, love, and remembrance.
